- Abstract
- Tests were carried out in the FMRC 2.5-m3 Test Vessel to study the performance characteristics of two powders (sodium bicarbonate [SB] and monoammonium phosphate [MAP] and water as suppression agents for explosions of quiescent and turbulent mixtures of 10% methane in air. The tests were also intended to improve the understanding of the suppression mechanisms and of the effects of geometric variables on suppression system performance. A 6-liter High Rate of Discharge (HRD) vessel, typically filled with 3 liters of agent, was developed for use in the project.
