- Abstract
- Combustion experiments has been carriedout for different types of chemicals under various fire conditions using the standard cone calorimeter 9SO 5660) and a ventilation controlled cone calorimeter. This small scale study is a part of CEC STEP project entitled 'Combustion of Chemical Substances and the Impact on the Environment of the Fire Products'. The objective of this study has been to measure with cone calorimeter ignitability, rate of heat release, smoke production and toxic gas production for the substances. The measurements have been made continuously at different irradiation levels and at different ventilation conditions to simulate different types of fire conditions. To evaluate the effects of ventilation and oxygen concentration on the fire parameters, a ventilation controlled system for the cone calorimeter has been developed.
