- Abstract
- This reort documents testing of Halon 1301 fire extinguisher systems for aircraft dry bay protection. The effects of ventilation flow through a battle damage aircraft fuselage on extinguisher systems performance were carefully studied. Problems of fire detection and agent discharge reliability were investigated. Two types of fire extinguisher systems were tested, a high rate discharge extinguisher and the relatively slow MIL-C-22284 extingusher. Test results show that both fire extinguisher systems were extremely effective in preventing substained dry bay fires.
