- Abstract
- ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH To judge the danger potential of fire smoke it is necessary to know the chemical compound. Thereby the analysis of gas - as well as particles phase is important. Therefore gas - and smoke particle samples of a model fire of polystyro packing were analysed. The packing was equiped with bromic flame proofing agent. For the gas phase the measurements establish the existance of methyl bromide besides some toxic unsaturated, aromatic and polyaromatic compounds. The evaluation of the relating to size collected soot particles establish a high concentration of respirable smoke particles with a maximum concentration of ca. 0,5 pim diameter. While most of the small particles are organic, the bigger ones contain more oxygen, bromine and graphite carbon. Oxygen exists on the periphery of all sizes of particles. Bromine exists enriched in the 20 nm skin. It exists also in organic as well as inorganic, oxygenic bromine compounds. Beneath this layer there are by all particles, except the smallest ones, a some 100 nm thick layer of hydrogenous organic compound. The analysed depth sequence can be explained by a successive condensation of aliphatic carbons and later of the bromine compounds as a result of cooling when moving away from the fire point.
