- Abstract
- Current compartment fire tests and fire models are not desigend to simulate forced-ventilation fires, which are the characteristic fires in nuclear facilities. Comprehensive sets of test data for forced-ventilation fires will be compiled to evaluate (1) a numerical description of these fires, (2) the relationship between the enclosure and fire growth, and (3) the changes in fire growth caused by the exposure of ventilation system components to heat and smoke. The initial experiments were restriced to spray fires of nonsmoky fuels. Element blance techniques were developed to investigate unanticipated measurement problems and to validate the measured data.
