- Abstract
- ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Atomized 'combustible liquids' can as well be produced in the regular operation of a factory as in an emergency situation. The quantity describing the potential risk of combustible liquids is normally the flashpoint. But there are two difficulties. Above all combustible water-soluble liquids with flashpoints H ≥ 21 dec C can only be placed indirectly into the system of combustible liquids. Besides that, atomized liquids react related to flashpoints total differently to coherent ones. In our case the mists were produced by a high pressure pump and a pressure between 10 and 50 bar. The sice of drops is dependent as well on pressure as on parameters of the fuel injectors. It was determined by a quick method (MgO-method). Ignition tests using hydrous solutions of n-butyl alcohol, butyl glycol, ethanol, methylpyrrolidon and n-propanol. Ignition source was a spark gap of 10000 V and 230 J ignition energy. It could be proved that water-solvent-mixtures with drop sizes of about 50 mum can be ignited at lower temperatures than are determined as flashpoint according to the standards. Now it will be tested if this phenomenon also hapens below 10 bar.
