Abstract
After completing this lesson, you will be able to operate as part of a team to control and/or extinguish interior and exterior Classes A, C and D fires and passenger vehicle and wildland fires. This Firefighter 1 Student Applications workbook is designed to be used in conjunction with the teaching materials presented in its companion lesson in the Firefighter 1 Instructor's Guide. Both use as their text the fourth edition of Essentials of Fire Fighting. The study sheets, information sheets, and chapter review tests in this workbook are intended to provide you with a means of studying the material covered in the corresponding chapter of Essentials. Practical activity sheets and job sheets are designed to allow you to master hands-on tasks requisite to meeting the standards for Firefighter 1. Each activity sheet is keyed to the NFPA 1001 objective(s) it addresses. Practical activity sheets guide you in producing a product (e.g., knot, mathematical computation, analytical response), which is then evaluated by the instructor. Job sheets provide you with step-by-step procedures for performing a task (e.g., donning SCBA, raising a ladder, using a pitot tube). After you have practiced the task, your instructor will observe and evaluate your performance.
