- Abstract
- Flammability testing of selected nonmetallic materials at weightless and high-gravity conditions has shown that combustion (propagation rate, temperature, and heat flux) generally increases with an increase in gravity (or acceleration equivalent) for the zero-gravity to 15 g conditions tested. Combustion is retarded by zero gravity and appears to be strongly influenced by available oxygen.
