- Abstract
- ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Fire and Rescue Operations at fires have been discussed generally in a preliminary study with the title "ANALYS OCH BESKRIVNING AV RADDNINGSTJANSTENS INSATSSITUATIONER - EN FORSTUDIE" (A Preliminary Study of the Response Situation for the Fire and Rescue Service). The report was isued by The National Defence Research Establishment (FOA) according to the plans in BRANDFORSK's research program for 1983. In the report further studies are proposed in order to evaluate the fire fighting operations at different objects, such as factories, residential buildings, etc. A study related to the correlation between environment, fire loss and fireground operations was later published by FOA. This document reports a preliminary study "The Response Situation at Fires in Industrial Facilities". This study has been initiated because of increasing fire losses from industrial fires and because of the fire fighting forces limited success in stopping fire spread at an early stage. The study proposes investigations to be performed in order to get a more complete picture of the response situation, in which the fire service will be involved when arriving to a factory fire. All parameters that will influence the result have to be investigated. Response and attack time and the fire fighting capacity should be studied in relation to the development of fire. The performance of the fire service attack groups and the risks they might encounter have to be investigated as well.
