Operation EDITH
- Abstract
- Fire protection people have been telling us for years that we could cut our fire losses - if we did a little advance planning; that we could prevent most fire fatalities - if we knew what to do in an emergency. Today, several million people are involved in a new nation-wide program to get rif of the "if" factor in home safety. The project is called "Operation EDITH", short forExit Drills in the Home. EDITH is a training program which outlines the procedures you and your family should follow in order to safely escape a fire in your home. Its basic instrucitons can be summarizes in two words: pre-planning and practice. Get the facts, learn what to do and, perhaps more important, what not to do, then hold actual practice drills regularly to make the learned responses automatic.
