Abstract
Three parameters characterize the intensity of a time-dependent heat flux from a pool of burning flame agent. When exposed to this heat flux, a cellulosic solid ignites fter a time that depends on the values of the parameters. These dependences are investigated for both general and specific flame agent-target configurations. The parameters producing the greatest decrease in the target ignition time are related to the surface area, density, optical absorption coefficient, and heat of vaporization of the flame agent.
