- Abstract
- Just what are composite materials. They are structural (either metal or nonmetal) materials in which there is reinformcement of their elements in the form of threads, fibers, or cuttings of stronger material. Composite materials include, for example, plastic reinforced with boron, carbon, or glass fibers, straps or fabrics based on them; aluminum reinforced with steel or beryllium. Combining the volume content of components, one can make a composite material with tripled values for strength, fire resistance, modulus of elasticity, resistance to abrasion, and even make composites with required magnetic, dielectric, radio-wave absorbing and other special features.
