- This CD contains the proceedings of the 11th conference in the 'Flame Retardants' series and marks the 21st year of the inception of the conference. This series concentrates on the practical applications of flame retardants and polymers and brings together the manufacturers and users with legislators, fire test experts and fire scientists. The conference provides a forum for the exchange of ideas about what is needed and what is possible and practicable in the control of fire in polymeric materials. The papers cover the latest trends in legislation within Europe and the USA, new developments in flame retardants, and flame-retarded products, the development and validation of fire tests as well as environmental aspects of flame retardants. The meeting is organised jointly by the British Plastics Federation and Interscience Communications in association with the Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe, and the European Flame Retardant Association. The British Plastics Federation is the principal UK trade association representing the interests of plastics raw material and machinery suppliers, together with plastic processors. Interscience Communications is a company which organises conferences and specialist training and published books in the fire science and engineering fields. The Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe is the organisation of the plastics manufacturing industry in Western Europe. The European Flame Retardants Association comprises of 26 member companies manufacturing a broad spectrum of types of flame-retardant chemicals for polymers, fibres, timber and surface coating applications.
