- Abstract
- An experimental investigation has been conducted to determine the major factors governing the smoldering of flexible polyurethane foams. It was found that the experimental results can be interpreted in the context of a previously developed model for the smoldering mechanism of cellulosics. The model seems able to describe the main features of the smoldering behavior of the flexible polyurethane foams tested. Good agreement is found between experiments and theoretical predictions for one of the foams.
