- Abstract
- The need for relevant information about exiting from a public buildin, especially department stores and hotels, as part of an evacuation plan for accurate emergencies such as fires, natural and environmental disasters and within densely populated areas was examined, empirically and by means of a literature survey. The following findings were deemed salient: 1) standard alarms give insufficient warning, and 2) vocal alarms (VAS) have the best general effect under all circumstances.
