- Abstract
- [ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH] The Association of Swiss Fire Protection authorities (VKF) brought out new fire protection regulations in 1993. These reflect the current state of technology and correspond to the European standards. Since there is a great need for standardized fire protection regulations in Switzerland, the VFK has drawn up a set of such regulations and advised all Cantons to adopt these in the Cantonal Law. Based on the principles of fire protection, these regulations are shown to be flexible when applied in practice and open to the latest technological developments. In addition, these regulations establish where fire alarm systems are prescribed, taking into account the use of the building. In the last five years, all fire alarms from about 4,500 on-line fire alarm systems were registered and evaluated by fire brigades. The results of these extensive statistics were prepared according to various factors and presented graphically. The new fire protection guidelines on fire alarm systems presented by the VFK demonstrate the wide scope now available to a fire alarm company in Switzerland for the suppression of false alarms.
