- Abstract
- This manual is intended to help fire departments and Civil Defense organizations train people to support regular fire forces during a national emergency. these trained citizens would be qualified to suppress small fires steaming from nuclear attack, assist fire fighters, and help defend community shelters from fire. Many local, area, and state fire services have designed fire defense plans to facilitate the organization, mobilization, and operation of their fire fighting resources to most effectively minimize the effects of natural or warcaused disasters. The fire service, with its trained assists, would work in areas immediately adjacent to target cities and (or) within disaster areas.
