- Abstract
- [ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH] Since 1990, working group 9 members attempt to standardize the requirements for the fire detection and fire alarm system. The objective of the standard is to find the way to assess that the different components of the system are able to work together and to avoid that the different additional elements are jeopardizing the essential functions. The main principles used in the draft standard are based on the following approach: [1] Each device communicate with the control and indicating equipment via a transmission path. [2] Each device belonging to an essential function shall not adversely affect an other function of and shall work correctly. [3] Each additional device shall not adversely affect other devices. [4] The compatibility, interoperability or connectability of each device shall be assess accordingly to the method of assessment based on theoretical analysis and functional test. Finally, The EN 54 serie would not be complete without the system requirement which is the more essential document in order to achieve reliability, availability, security and maintenability of the Fire Detection and Fire Alarm System.
