- Abstract
- Logistic considerations make the adaptation of JP-5 hydrocarbon fuel desirable as fiebomb fuel for strikes made from aircraft carriers. However, the low vapor pressure of JP-5 at ambient temperatures causes unreliable ignition and poor flame propagation in the firebomb mode. The feasibility of improving the ignitabiity of Westco gelled JP-5 by the addition of small proportions of highly volatile, combustible agents has been investigated.
