- Abstract
- Based on a request by the U. S. Navy, the National Research Council established a committee to study the state of knowledge, technology, and practice associated with extinguishing fires on ships or structures at sea from an external source. The committee also was charged with identifying major deficiencies in external firefighting capability and areas for further research and development. The study is intended to assist the Navy and the U. S. Coast Guard in their planning and research related to fighting offshore marine fires from external sources.
