- The following recommendations are made by the Committee on Chemical Safety of the American Chemical Society in recognition of the hazards involved in academic chemistry laboratories and the frequent lack of proper emphasis on safe practices and adequate instructions. These are by no means all-inclusive and are to be regarded as illustrations which must be supplemented by the instructors for the laboratory facilities and current experiments. They should be frequently reviewed and revised as the need arises.
