Abstract
Water vapor is one of the products of combustion in fires. At high temperature, typical of combustion systems such as fires, hot water vapor emits radiative energy in the form of heat. At ambient temperatures, the cold water vapor (i.e., moisture) in the atmosphere absorbs thermal radiation from a high temperature source such as a fire.
