Abstract
The self ignition delay and mass rate of burning of polypropylene retarded with phosphorous and bromine containing flame retardants indicate that retarded polymer in the real fire may be ignited and burned more easily. It was shown that the presence of flame retardant increases the rate of polypropylene degradation. The apparent activation energy of the exothermic flame reactions should increase with decreasing concentration of oxygen.
