- Abstract
- Zone and field treatments of fire modelling are explained briefly, compared and contrasted by their strengths and weaknesses. Field models of fire are argued to have reached the stage where they can be applied to the non spreading fire with some confidence. Examples of the validation and application of such models are shown together with a discussion of how they need to be extended to deal with the problem of flame spread.
