- Abstract
- An important gap is felt in the fire research field between fundamental research and its ultimate goal: an increased fire safety by the application of its results in practice. Examining the reasons for this gap, one observes that an important part of research does not have fire safety as primary objective, but rather trade or other economic purposes. There is also an important missing link of feedback from practice to research, allowing the evaluation of the usefulness of the applied research findings.
