- Several types of detection devices are discussed: smoke detectors (ionization and photoelectric), fixed-temperature devices, rate-of-rise heat detectors or rate-compensation thermal detectors. In addition, special detectors to be used under certain circumstances are looked at: gas, infrared or ultraviolet-flame detectors.
