- Most Destructive Wildland/Urban Interface Fires: 130-acre fire in Berkeley California in 1923 destroyed 584 homes 6090-acre fire in Los Angeles in 1961 ravaged 484 homes four fires in San Bernadino County in 1980 burned 41,472 acres and 355 homes 804-acre fire in Santa Barbara in 1977 decimated 234 homes.
