- ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH A former publication gave evidence by systematic experiments that the mists of very aqueous organic solvents - regardless of their flash points of almost 100 deg C or sometimes more - can also be ignited at room temperature by an electric arc if they are sprayed at admission pressures of 10-50 bars to produce mists consisting of drops measuring approximately 50 µm in diameter. We extended these tests to jet admission pressures of 2-10 bars at our labs. With these relatively low spray pressures we could still evidence an ignition at room temperature even for very aqueous solutions independent of their flash point.
