- In the summer of 1987, Dr. T. Tanaka of Japan's Building Research Institute issued a new version of his original building fire simulation (NBSIR 83-2718). The new version has a number of enrichments to the fire physics as well as a modified numerical package. Unfortunately, to date no English language documentation for the new version has been published. BRI2 will be described, stressing the improvements over the earlier version, and some simulation results presented. The results will be compared with similar results using the NIST/Harvard VI multi-room simulation and both compared with experimental data. Some of the unique features of BRI2 result in significant, new simulation capabilities. These will also be discussed.
