- Abstract
- The generally all-embracing concept 'life safety' is limited in this paper to the more special part of life safety from fire. The problems arising to provide a reasonable safety standard in buildings shall be discussed from the practical viewpoint of a fireman and reduced to the fundamental conditions learnt from the fire scene. Safe means of rescue and compartmentation are the basic elements for life safety in buildings which can be brought into work by building regulations and their enforcement.
