Abstract
To evaluate quantitatively and ensure the fire safety of a building, especially that during rather short period after the fire out-break, it would be necessary to predict the fire spread and propagation in the early stage of fire. Nevertheless, because of the complicated interactions of various phenomena or factors, we have so little knowledge on the pre-flash-over state of compartment fire that it is now almost impossible to make such prediction in consideration of the condition of compartment or the place where fire breaks out. However, the numerical model which would be applied to the prediciton of fire with above requirements is desired to be a comprehensive one which would be able to predict various phenomena associated with fire.
