- Abstract
- Results of a program aimed at identifying organic coatings suitable for steel reinforcing bars in concrete are given. Resistances of candidate coatings to abrasion, solution of calcium chloride, hydroxide, sulfate, and fresh cement paste, and surface preparation of steel, resistance of coated bars to electrical currents, and concrete-to-coating bonding are discussed. Tests were made on liquid and powdered epoxy, polyvinylchloride liquid, polypropylene powder, phenolic nitrile liquid, and zinc rich liquid coatings.
