Abstract
Understanding the complicated coupling of aerodynamics and chemical reactions with strong heat release which occurs in turbulent chemically reacting flows is an important practical problem which remains unsolved despite many years of intensive experimental and theoretical study. Since this coupling plays a central role in combustion science and chemical engineering, we have initiated a long term experimental program with the goal of providing turbulence theoreticians with the data necessary to generate accurate models of turbulent chemically reacting flows.
