- Abstract
- A flight study reveals that aircraft cabin fires are approximately 15 percent of the total, but account for more than half of the deaths resulting from all accidents involved in in-flight fires. Three major fires are discussed: Varig 707, July 1973; the Saudia TriStar, August 1980; Air Canada DC-9, June 1983. Proposed British fireworthiness rulemaking would be more in line with that of the United States of America if more fire-resistant cabin interiors for large airlines are required.
