- Abstract
- The Fire Research and Safety Act of 1968, PL90-259, amended the act which established the National Bureau of Standards. It directed the Secretary of Commerce to establish a fire research and safety center which should conduct directly and through contracts and grants a comprehensive fire research and safety program leading to more effective measures of protection against the hazard of fire to both life and property. This study analyses the fire situation as it is today and recommends a program to meet the goals set forth in the act.
