- This Benchmarking and Metrics (BM&M) Summary Report presents the results of analyses performed in 1997 using the Construction Industry Institute (CII) BM&M database that now includes data from two annual collection cycles. The database consists of 443 projects representing over $25.1 billion in cost. The majority of the projects are Heavy Industrial and are located in the United States and Canada. Thirteen international projects were submitted by CII member firms and are being used as a pilot for future analyses. The BM&M Committee plans to include international projects in the 1998 analyses and to enrich the database in the Light Industrial, Buildings, and Infrastructure industry groups. Broadening of the database will be accomplished with additional projects from CII member firms, the CII Benchmarking Participants Program (BMPP) for nonmember companies, and with other international projects from the European Construction Institute (ECI). Eight BMPP and 53 EC1 international projects were submitted for inclusion in the 1998 analysis. Descriptive statistics of the current database are included in Chapter 2.
