- Abstract
- A survey of the weathering qualities and extent of use of the various roofing materials on dwellings in the Southeastern States is described. Detailed studies of roofing materials in Greensboro, NC, Columbia, SC, Savannah and Atlanta, GA, Jacksonville and Orlando, FL, Birmingham, AL, Knoxville, TN, and Charleston, WV are reported. A tabulation, by States, of the kinds of roofing materials used on more than 10,000 rural and small town dwellings, along approximately 2,500 miles of highway, is included. Forty-eight photographs, illustrating types of weathering of roofing materials and features of design and construction of roofs, are shown.
