Abstract
The following report summarizes the progress achieved during the period April 1, 1992 through August 20, 1992 for grant 60NANB0D1035, "Fundamental Mechanisms for CO and Soot Formation in Diffusion Flames". This report will also serve as an annual report for the program. The report will summarize the results obtained of the effects of soot concentration on the production of carbon monoxide in overventilated laminar diffusion flames and will describe recent results on underventilated diffusion flames. The former studies were conducted in collaboration with Dr. Kermit Smyth of NIST, while the latter studies were conducted in collaboration with Dr. George Mulholland of NIST during his sabbatical leave at Penn State last year.
