- Abstract
- [Abstract in English] Fire detection installations have always been tested and accepted in France, according to standard fires defined in texts elaborated by the insurers or for public markets. Though we are undoubtedly sure that using approved fire detectors well adapted to the risks is a guarantee of their efficiency, several examples have revealed that the environment of these detectors can improve or disturb their functioning. Without going against this principle, the use of test fires bring some difficulties in the carrying out and meet in certain cases important disadvantages (air pollution - a danger for the health of technicians). For many years we have been searching for a substitution to these test fires. Studies on these generators for 5 years have led to select appliances whose characteristics allow a satisfying duplication of the test fires without the above quoted disadvantages. The aim of this publication is to give you the outcome abtained in the laboratories as well as in the in-situ (systematic use of this generator by important companies).
