- Abstract
- A study to investigate the application of systems management techniques to fire protection operations was initiated in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, in January 1969. The study was funded by a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and contributed services of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas. The consulting firm of Pinnell-Anderson-Wilshire and Associates, Inc. of Dallas, Texas was selected to serve as technical consultant to the project. The study was conducted in three basic phases which are as follows: 1] Operational Analysis of Existing Operations; 2] Simulation Model Development; and 3] Systems Analysis. The project work indicated above produced eleven interim reports which described the specific project activities. These have been incorporated into a three volume Project Final Report as follows: Volume 1 - Computer Utilization in the Fire Protection Operations; Volume 2 - Simulation Model for Fire Protection Operations; and Volume 3 - Systems Analysis of Fire Protection Operations. This discussion is provided to give the reader an overall perspective on the total scope of the project and inform him that this volume is only one of the three volumes in the Project Final Report.
