Abstract
The presentation will describe the unified model of fire growth and smoke spread, CFAST. This project waws instituted to consolidate the various modeling effort at the Center for Fire Research. The internal structure of the model will be revealed and the method of modification shown. The intent is to provide a framework and methodology for maintenance of the model, together with a recoverable procedure for updating it. Thoughts on where the effort should head and how it might get there will also be presented. This will include suggestions for the physical aspects that are missing, what parts could be improved, and new phenomenology that would improve our ability to simulate actual fires.
