- Abstract
- A noxxle beam-mass spectrometer system for sampling one-atmosphere flames has been constructed. The design details of the device are presented. The performance of the device is sampling premixed flames is demonstrated using methane-oxygen-argon flames. Near-equilibrium flame conditions are observed. The concentrations of combustion products have been measured and certain combustion intermediates have been observed while translating the probe through the flame zones. Spatial resolution within the flame zones is found to be good, the latter being on the order of 0.1 mm.
