- Abstract
- The National Bureau of Standards performed environmental tests on a newly developed 450 cubic foot air transportable field refrigerator for the U.S. Army Natick Research and Development Laboratories. The refrigerator, in assemblage with a supplied refrigeration unit, was found to be more than capable of pulling down to and holding an interior temperature of -17.8 deg C (0 deg F) when surrounded by an ambient temperature of 50.4 deg C (123 deg F). Additional tests indicated that the performance of this assemblage would exceed that required to meet any likely combinations of sensible and radiant (solar) heat gain.
