- A brief history of international standardization is given with particular reference to the International Organization for Standardization. The development of two standards (ISO 6940 and ISO 6941) by ISO/TC38/SC19 is traced and some information is given on their implementation in various countries. An appendix gives details of work items relating to fire tests of ISO Technical Committees TC38 Textiles, TC45 Rubber and Rubber Products, TC61 Plastics, TC92 Fire Tests on Building Materials, Components and Structures and TC136 Furniture.
