Abstract
This Pilot-Demonstration Project was undertaken in the belief that accidental burn injury and death could be reduced substantially bu suing the "community action" approach as an educational technique. The reduction of burn injury incidents in the project area during the period covered by this report validates this assumption. The first phase of the project was to gather data on the burn injury problem in the six-county area and to idenfity causative factors which resulted in the injuries. The second phase consisted of an educational program to create an awareness of the seriousness of the problem and the causative factors invovled, and to generate individual and community interest in a prevention program. This phase began early in the project in a limited degree and became more extensive and effective as knowledge was gained during project progression.
