Abstract
The National Bureau of Standards is engaged in a project sponsored by the U. S. Veterans Administration to study smoke control in VA hospitals and to develop new design approaches and methods of acceptance testing. As part of this project hospitals at Bay Pines, Florida and San Diego, California have been tested. The National Bureau of Standards has been involved in a project to study the feasibility of using elevators as a means of fire exit for the physically handicapped. The ultimate goal of the project is to provide information which can be used by building designers.
