Abstract
If a fire starts in a room containing polyethylene or PVC tubes of large dimesnions, the fire is quickly spread to adjoining rooms via unprotected passage, the tubes being softened to give the fire free passage. With tubes of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester, the risks of fire spreading are less, as the reinforcement prevents the tube from collapsing at the wall passage. If ignition takes place inside the tube, however, the fire is quickly spread past the wall.
