- Abstract
- The dynamics of aerosol coagulation, especially as it affects the composition of inhaled fluoropolymer smoke was simulated using MAEROS2. It has been proven that the deep-lung injuy mode of fluoropolymer smoke toxicity is due to small ( <.02 micron) aerosol particles. Coagulation drastically reduces the numer of small aerosol particles present, thus minimizing the smoke toxicity. Calculations are presented which show the size and the uptake of fluoropolymer smoke particles over time.
