Abstract
In the last years experiments were carried out in many countries to optimalize thefire protection of buildings. To calculate the costs of optimalization of fire protection it seems practical to carry out this task in connection with a given object, resp., on national economy level. To optimalize the costs of a building's fire protection the passive system/design of the building/and the active system of the fire protection have to be taken into consideration, as well as the fire protection have to be taken into consideration, as well as the efficiency of the operative protection. To increase the level of the fire safety, it ties up resources and these are not unlimited. If these resources were not correctly distributed, the efficiency of investments and measures concerning fire prevention will be inadequate, similar to other traditional investments for productions. The object of the study, carried out in 1988-1989 by workers of the Research Institute for Fire Protection and the Design Bureau for Light Construction, was to establish the ratio between the passive and active fire protection to the total costs of a project.
