- Abstract
- Physical and mathematical modelling techniques continue to make significant contributions to our understanding of fire and its effects. Developments in the simulation of fires using mathematical modelling have now reached the point where techniques can be applied to assess the effects of fire both on the occupants of a building and the structure itself. Such techniques are becoming more widely established and will undoubtedly have an increasing impact on the practice of fire safety engineering.
